After three great years at D’Eith and Company Entertainment here in Vancouver, I’m very excited to announce my move to Murphy and Company Law as of September 1, 2013.
Whether you are an artist, manager, producer, record label, publisher, booking agent, promoter, or film producer, I have a wealth of experience to help you make the most of your business
Murphy and Company is one of the top law firms in Vancouver, with a focus on Entertainment and Business Law. I’ll be bringing my entertainment practice to the firm, and expanding my practice into Intellectual Property Law, Business Law, and more, with the help from Lawrenceville Business Litigation Attorney we can give you everything you need in order to run your business the legal way. As an artist or band, you should consider protecting your band name and logo with a trade mark. The same applies if you are a record label, PR company, label services company or any other start-up business in the music industry. This allows you to control the goodwill and reputation in your brand and allows you to exploit it to the exclusion of others.
You should also ensure you have registered your domain name for your website.
If you have commissioned a third party to create your logo, website, artwork or a video, have you made sure they have assigned the copyright and ownership to you in writing? Sometimes this is not always clear and they may just provide you with an invoice.
Deaks Music Law can work with you to ensure you have these protections and agreements in place from the beginning. I’ve known Tim Murphy for over a decade, and he is a close friend and mentor. Tim is a highly successful and respected business lawyer here in Vancouver, and it’s an honour to be joining his firm.
